For the second year in a row, PlayStation France set out to shine a spotlight on independent games, not only to celebrate their diversity but also to make them accessible to wider audiences. The challenge was to go beyond traditional showcases and create a format that could truly engage players, spark conversations, and highlight the creative passion behind indie development.
We designed a series of live streams built around four original concepts that placed communities at the heart of the experience. Our approach stemmed from key insights into the indie community.
Indie players love to interact with studios and feel closer to the creative process so we imagined Behind the Indie, a format where streamers could test an indie game and then interview the studio behind it, offering the community an exclusive and intimate exchange.
We also knew that indie players are highly sensitive to peer recommendations, it is a community centered around the interaction between its members. That insight led us to design Pitch Me an Indie, where two streamers test a game chosen by the other, sparking genuine reactions and encouraging community sharing.
Indie players aren’t tied to a specific genre. Whether puzzle, narrative or adventure, what matters most is having a unique gaming experience. In Indie Roulette, the community takes control by voting for the game the streamer will play, creating unpredictable and interactive moments.
Finally, because indie games are all about breaking codes and inventing new ways to play, we imagined Jacques a dit Indie. This format highlights their originality by imposing playful conditions and creative challenges on streamers during their gameplay.
To keep the experience fresh and inclusive, each stream introduced new guests and games. We collaborated with a wide range of streamers, from niche creators with dedicated followings to larger personalities with mainstream reach. This diversity allowed the formats to resonate across different communities, uniting players with varied tastes around the same passion for indie titles.
Through this initiative, PlayStation France established more than a series of streams, it built a platform that celebrates the creativity and richness of its indie catalog.
